i really, really, really hope that i get to bring her here eventually but we'll have to talk about out plan for her. he has another baby that'll be 2 this Feb, and she'll probably be coming to AL when she's fully 3 y/o. I imagine he'll keep her out in AZ until she's 3 and ready to be worked... unc thinks he's too old to be starting horses, but he's awesome at just BEING around and every horse at his place is handled constantly; it's his love and not even remotely a source of income so these are his kids :) chance was his first baby since he's gotten back into horses (he's an old cowboy, a marine, used to lead pack trips in the desert, grand canyon, cavalry-type work, shod horses, etc for income for years and years and swore he'd never have them again, til he had a yankee niece who was horse-crazy)... getting chance's sire and losing his daughter (thereby fueling an interest in hippotherapy) has brought him back around to what he calls "the joy."

it's definitely been a great thing to share and and these little babies are definitely reminders not to lose the joy in our horses :)

I can see how this baby could add a spark! You'll need a fitting name for this one!!

I'm completely broken hearted over this news.

Apparently they were trying to lead momma and baby into another pen (which has Chance's other filly in it) and the baby stressed... without going into all the details, essentially baby had a heart attack and quit breathing from the stress of the ordeal... he did everything he could cpr-wise to save her, but she died in his arms.

I can't even express fully how much this hurts the both of us.

Thanks y'all for being excited with us when she came into the world, and thanks for your thoughts now.

Amy,
I am so sorry! What a tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your uncle.

thanks y'all. the stress of the whole situation has sent him into having TIAs (baby strokes)... when he called to tell me about it i could hardly understand him because apparently his left side was temporarily paralyzed. what an awful day. he's just devastated.
