Yearling wanted

Postby MBrownfl/al » Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:14 pm

I am looking for a yearling, colt or filly. I would prefer a QH registered or not, it don't matter. I'm wanting a project that can possibly be for my husband in the future..Just let me know, and I couldn't travel too far but will consider it for something I would love..

How about a 2 year old appaloosa filly? What are you eventually wanting to do with the horse?

Well as of now, he dosen't ride, but eventually I would want him to join me on some trails, and possibly some team penning. Or it's possible that once I get myself riding better, i'll give him my old gelding to learn on and me move on to something else. But I would love to start one as far as ground work and relationship wise..I have a feeling that what you have won't be in my price range. Lol your picture looks like a gorgeous expensive horse..lol..I only have a budget of 250 at this moment, and am searching everwhere for that price range right now. I paid 1200 for my gelding just this last year, so my husband would freak if I spent over my "seed" money..but will look at anything and take any suggestions. Thanks for replying:)

We have a yearling paint (solid) colt for sale. My friend is asking $500, but I know she told me she'd let it go for $300, you could give $250 a shot! She really wants to downsize the herd. He's a great little colt, I've worked with lots of his siblings. Every baby out of this stallion has the most level head and great mind I've ever worked with, and so far he's no exception. He is registered with the APHA. He's been very well handled so far and is a pleasure to work with. All of his siblings are excellent trail horses, and he should be very stocky and mature to 15h. (see horses for sale, his daddy and full sister are for sale, to see what they look like)

IMHO, hubby should get a seasoned horse to get confidence and stuff. green on green never has worked and never will. At the sales in attalla and cleveland, TN good broke horses are selling for $75 to $250 and that should be the direction he goes untill he has a good riding seat. As mush as a project sounds inticing and fun, i think alot of people including me that loves projects can spend time on our own horses we already feed and own to make them better partners in a riding field we desire. For example, i thought about doing the Extreme mustang make over this year and thought about how fun it would be to train a wild horse for 100 days. Well, i have a 3 year old that will benefit even more from that 100 days and i am already feeding him and not adding any exspenses to my pocket. I want to excel in ASHA shows and i need to work my horse and not anyother. My point is, if you are wanting to further your riding cella lets say in trail riding and right now your confidence is low then you could use your horse as a project for 2 years and become a good horse woman on a good broke horse. .

This is just my opinion however and I am sure you gals will do the smart thing and take advice from real professionals not me...LOL

Thanks Jamie, and you know me I always consider everyone's advice, I don't shut my ear to anyone. I'll have several days when I won't wanna saddle and maybe work with a small project. I also thought the ground work , like at Cathy's too, will get me more ground confidence which I found out real quick that I need. I feel like i may even give Outlaw to Andrew at the end of the two yrs, send the new one to a trainer(after my ground work) and me take the newby, cause I do plan on becoming a better horse woman with Outlaw, no matter whether I get a new horse or not. And I know this sounds silly, but my mom needs a lil theropy to de-stress(since the heart attack) and she loves the idea of lovin on a baby horse, to bring some old memories back. There are several reasons why I should and several why I shouldn't. If I come upon an awesome deal I can't pass up, I'll take it, but for now i'm on the prowl;). O and Drew can learn to ride on Outlaw with me, it can be a family thing(we need it lol) Again Thank you for your input Jamie:), I appreciate it
